Whafeef gets the stable off the mark!

It's always a good feeling to get the stable off the mark with a winner so early in the season. WHAFEEF managed to get his nose down on the line when it counted most and notched up his maiden win from just his second start. It was a very promising first run when he ran a good 4th, beaten just over a length and a half. With the natural improvement he was in the race with a definite winning chance, however he is not the type to give too much away at home. Fortunately the 3-year-old Rafeef colt kept his best strides for the course and ended up winning a good race. Some over zealous confidence from the Fortune yard was unfortunately not good enough for Whafeef, maybe next time.

Well done to the Ackerman family on the continued good form and once again, a great start to the season. All the success is well deserved and the support is appreciated. It is sometimes difficult to tell how a horse like this might continue to progress when there is not much to show at home, but his first post maiden run will reveal a lot and hopefully he may be a competitive sort, especially over a little further. Lyle Hewitson, who rode a perfect race stated that it was a win full of merit, which is promising. Only time will tell how he progresses.
