Whafeef digs down deep!
It was another opportunity for WHAFEEF to prove that he is an above average 3-year-old. Even though it was not a feature event of any sort, it was a classy field with some tough knocking older horses and fellow up and coming 3-year-olds. The Rafeef colt was up to the challenge and was bringing his ultra consistent form into the race. He dug down deep and proved that he is a very progressive sort.
This latest Vaal win now makes him a 3 time winner, but as stated above he has some very consistent form and has never been far off, perhaps a run or two that could have seen him in the winners box if things had gone his way. Raymond Danielson rode him to victory, following a good 3rd placing in his last run, with the jockey and colt pairing up again, Raymond brought what he had learnt from the last run into the race and timed the race perfectly. The colt got his nose on line when it counted most and won by 0,20 lengths.
At this stage it seems like he is a good miler, but while maturing he might be able to step up in trip as a 4-year-old. Either way it will be exciting to see how he continues to progress over few months and season to come.
The Rafeef progeny are continuing to shine and having WHAFEEF part of that crop is exciting for the stable and connections. As far as connections go, Mr Willem Ackerman owns the colt and it's always a pleasure for the stable to train another winner for the Ackerman family and appreciate the support.
