Vars Vicky is Back!
VARS VICKY is back to winning ways after showing off his class at the Vaal on Tuesday!
Only was only a Pinnacle stakes race of the 1200m sprint, but a race full of classy horses. VARS VICKY has already proved that he is a top horse in his own right but had found himself losing his way a bit and the recent form had not been showing his actual potential. This latest win has hopefully brought him back to where he should be and is an obvious horse to note for the books again.
The gelding stepped out as a late two year old and showed exceptional form leading all the way up to his toughest challenge in the G1 Golden Horse Sprint. In a very open event he was was of the leading contenders. The race had not gone his way and the ride was less than perfect to say the least, but the 3-year-old was still not disgraced at all, finishing 6th and only beaten 1,05 lengths. Since that race in June last year, it has taken the good looking Var this long to get back to winning ways.
It seemed like the 1400m suited him better as he matured. He raced in some top fields over this distance but just seemed to lack the finishes he had shown earlier in his career. So the decision was made to bring him back to the 1200m sprints, add a set of blinkers to help his concentration and hopefully see him show his class. He did exactly that!
It was really a gutsy win and very exciting for the stable, regular jockey Diego De Gouveia and most importantly Mr Vicky Veeramootoo who had the patience and gave the stable the time to work the horse back to his best. A big congratulations.
Well done to the Gary Player stud who always takes such a keen interest in every horse that they produce. After this win, the signs are there that VARS VICKY might be seen back in the winners box more often again and would be amazing to have his previous consistency come to the fore.
