Tulip Tree gets it right!

TULIP TREE was the stable's only runner to hit the track on Thursday at Turffontein and she was up to the task of keeping the fabulous form the stable has been on, making this the 7th winner for the Month of August!

The lightly raced 3-year-old filly was odds on favourite and a deserved one with her form leading up to the race providing that she was due for this win. Her two previous runs only narrowly being beaten with two 2nd place finishes.

Regular pilot, Raymond Danielson timed the race perfectly and had learnt a lot from the filly's previous runs. In the post race interview, Raymond had suggested that at this stage in the filly's career, the 1800m metre may have been a touch too far. It was most likely her guts and ability that had the What A Winter filly just hold on to have her nose down on the line when it counted most and won by 0,30 lengths.

The filly still seems quite immature and leggy, this is a good thing on the basis that she could be quite processive and might relish some time needed to mature and come back bigger and stronger for her 3-year-old career. This might be another exciting filly that owner Mr Willem Ackerman has on his hands. A big congratulations to the Ackerman family and may this be a glimpse of an exciting new season ahead for the now well-known silks that had many celebrated winners last season.

As stated, this is the 7th winner for the month of August and the stable could not have asked for a better start to a new season. The stats to date are as follows:

Runners - 13

Winners - 7

Seconds - 2

Thirds - 1

Fourths - 2

Other - 1

Amazing stats with 12 of the 13 runners earning a stake cheque! Long may the stable form continue.
