Queen Of Smoke makes it back to back wins!

QUEEN OF SMOKE made it a series of back to back wins at the Vaal last Thursday. The very lightly raced filly is now a two time winner from just four starts.

The 3-year-old filly has been showing natural progression and improvement ever since her first run back in June this year. Having her step out of the maidens and back into the winners enclosure proves that she is going about things the right way. The progeny of Gimmethelightlight are always the type to naturally improve with their experience and it’s great to see that this has been the case for this good looking filly.

She was fortunate enough to jump from a favourable draw. It was easy to spot her with the combination of her big white face and popular Hollywood syndicate silks. Regular jockey, Randall Simons was able to have her sitting comfortably on the rail in a handy position where she was able to stride along. The long Vaal straight allowed her to build up some good momentum while tracking the leader. With a clear passage along the inside fence, Randall asked her the question and showed an immediate turn of foot which good her to the lead, even though still showing some signs of being immature. It was evident that she was never for the catching and won by 1,00 lengths.

In the post race interview Randall had pointed out that she may be looking for a bit more ground and with her running style of being able to settle and turn it on when needed will add to some exciting watching if she does step up to the 1400-1600 metre distances. If she is rated fairly she should be very competitive in the handicaps and continue her reign of consistency.

A very big congratulations to the Hollywood Syndicate (Nom: Mr A Delpech) who have put their trust in the stable by bringing horses to the yard and being such an important sponsor for so many years. All the support is much appreciated.
