Princess Philippa keeps the stable rolling!

PRINCESS PHILIPPA notched up her 2nd career win in good style and dug down deep when it mattered most.

It was a well timed ride by Diego De Gouveia who returned to the saddle aboard this filly where he had won on her back in November last year. It looked like a very open and competitive race, the favourite being stable companion Bella Rosa, who should hopefully also end up in the winners box soon. Apart from one "bad" run, the Silvano filly has never been far off in any of her runs and the stable were confident of a promising run.

She is a relatively lightly raced 4-year-old and its always noted that Silvanos mature with age so she may continue to stay competitive if her merit rating remains fair and she can find the right type of races. She showed some nice turn of foot and seems to be quite versatile over the 1400-1600 metre distance, the advantage of this is that she hopefully has some good options of races to remain competitive in this type of handicap division.

Well done to owners Mr Ian van Schalkwyk and Anton Marx. Anton was fortunate enough to be on course to lead the filly into the winners enclosure and celebrate a good start to his season as an owner.
