Overdue win for Princess Philippa!

PRINCESS PHILIPPA did a great job to notch up her maiden win in her fifth attempt at the course. She was returning back from a 3 month break which did her the world of good and looked an absolute picture in the parade ring. It was a maiden handicap and she needed to carry top weight and giving away a lot to the rest of the field. The stable was very confident and expected her to win based on the work that she has shown at home, and therefore a win that was well overdue.

It was another good ride by Diego who found some good cover in the long Vaal straight. He tracked what would have been the biggest rival in the race, and with 400m to go, Diego pulled the filly out and she moved up with ease, when the question was asked she found herself in front and it was just a matter of how far she would win by with a stretched out field behind her. She ended up winning by a margin of 2,25 lengths.

Being out of a Silvano, this 3-year-old filly is going to continue to mature and will certainly come on from this win. She has some good natural pace, but will probably be looking for some more ground. Her next few runs will give a good indication of her abilities but she may be a filly worth following!

Well done to Mr Ian van schalkwyk and Anton Marx, both of which are having a good run of form at the moment and long may it continue. The support is always valued.

Thanks to HOLLYWOODBETS for their continued support!
