GRAND HERITAGE won in style!
EXPRESSFROMTHUS bounced back to his best at the right time. With a very open and competitive Grand Heritage field this year, the stable were still fairly confident that they had got the 4-year-old son of What A Winter was back to his best form and were expecting a big run.
There were very specific instructions, and fortunately the race was laid out as expected. He was able to find himself just off the pace and settled nicely behind some horses. Marco felt the need at around the 600m mark to show him some daylight and he moved up into contention effortlessly. As he hit the front it was just a matter of who was going to run second. It was a race full of merit, which some hard knocking handicappers in the race, he needed to shoulder top weight. Certainly is best win to date.
The gelding is lightly raced, only having 11 starts, including 4 wins. He is full of talent but as Marco van Rensburg had pointed out in his post race interview is that the stable have their work cut out. He will continue to take each race as it comes and hopefully their may be some black type that he could add to his name.
Congratulations to ROOISPRUIT STUD, and Mr Clive Barnard, a very ecstatic and excited owner who was able to lead his horse into the winners enclosure. Mr Barnard had also mentioned in his post race interview how special it fells to be able to breed a horse, watch them as fouls and then get to the track. Therefore, this win was extra special. Mr Barnard is a supporter of the industry and yard and it is always appreciated.
