Grade 3 success for Alula's Star!
ALULA'S STAR opened up the Pick 6 on Summer Cup day in fine style and earn her first black type success in the Magnolia Handicap (Grade 3)!
The 4-year-old filly has always been a beacon of consistency and seemed well deserved to celebrate Group success. There may of only been a few slight disappointments in her career, but still able t earn a stake in 15 out of 16 of her total starts, an absolute amazing accomplishment by an inexpensive filly that evidently does not know her price tag. She also becomes one of the initial founders to emerge from the initial Red Ray progeny as a Graded stakes winner.
The race was certainly not an easy one. It was a very competitive field of fillies and mares, but regular apprentice, Philisande Mxoli and the good looking chestnut filly get a long like a house on fire and was another good ride to get the filly across the line and into the winners box. Under the hands of Mxoli, the filly found herself just off the face and had some good cover. She was then fortunate enough to find good split and was sent for home. All the final through the final stages she was ahead and only needed to fight off one challenger, a very decent and unbeaten competitor. The filly showed heart and fought all the way to the line to end up winning by 0,20 lengths.
It was the very well known colours of Mr Ian van Schalkwyk that gets to celebrate Group success again, something that Mr van Schalkwyk is no stranger to doing throughout the years. Based off the filly's relatively low price and her earnings to date its clear to say that it was a great purchase and easy to be excited about what the filly has produced to date. A very big congratulations to him and that stable continues to appreciate all the support.
