Gilded Butterfly - A win overdue!

Since her first start, GILDED BUTTERLY has shown nothing but consistency and this win can definitely be labelled as overdue!

The 3-year-old Flower Alley filly was a very inexpensive purchase of only R50 000 from Maine Chance Farms and has worked hard to get that back in a short period of time from her 6 starts to date. The 6 starts include two wins (including this win), two 2nd's and two 3rd's.

This was the second time that Diego De Gouveia has ridden this filly and was able to make it count. However he did not have it easy, the filly seemed to hit a bit of a flat spot in the straight and Diego needed to work hard to get her mind on the job again, but when she did, she kicked into gear, fought off all challenges and won a good race. Based off this performance she is definitely still learning what racing is about and should hopefully mature into a nice 4-year-old. If her handicap remains reasonable the filly should remain competitive in these type of handicap races and looks like she could also be versatile in distance. This hopefully giving the Ackerman family some further enjoyment in watching her run.

It was a very fortunate occasion to have the Ackerman family on course to lead the filly in and watch her run. BOLD FORTUNE had also run on the same day, but unfortunately she was not able to get up to the line in time and had to settle for 2nd. The jockey gave her too much work to do, but was positive to see such a great turn of foot from the very progressive filly. She should be back in the winners enclosure soon and would have still be exciting to have the Ackerman's watch her in the flesh.
