Feather Boa opens up July Day!

FEATHER BOA’s travel to Hollywoodbets Greyville on July Day was worth every minute of her trip. The filly arrived in Durban on Friday, travelled well and was ready to race. The Bloodstock SA Sales Cup for fillies was a non-black type race but represented some good up and coming 2-year-olds and had a worthy prize pool of R400 000.

With the wide draw of 12, it was never going to be easy for the filly, but with Richard Fourie on top the filly would have the best possible chance despite the obstacle. She was coming into the race as a maiden with two runs to her name. This was of no concern to the stable as it was purely the lack of experience and having her being green that had her beat previously. The work she showed at home gave the stable a lot of confidence.

Richard’s instructions were simple and one of the only options from the terrible draw. The plan was to jump out, let her settle at the back of the field and let her do the rest when coming into the straight. The stunning Flower Alley filly came into the straight at the back of the field and Richard opted to pull her out wide and give her a clear passage to run on. The turn of foot was nearly instant and worked her way up the outside to pass the field. The final 100m saw her dig down deep to take on the very game 2nd placed filly, Canadian Summer, who had some very credible form and wins already to her name. Feather Boa fought and ended up winning by 0,40 lengths.

This was a very exciting win for all connections. Firstly the fact that it opened up the amazing day that Hollywoodbets Greyville presented to the country. Secondly it proved that the filly is classy and managed to show off the ability that she has always suggested she has. It was so special to have the majority of the owners on course to lead the filly into the winners enclosure. A big congratulations to Messers W D Jackson, M J Campbell, A D Marx & C C Valjalo.

Overall she will be another exciting 2-year-old prospect from the stable that’s worth following in her 3-year-old career.

Thanks to the sponsor HOLLYWOODBETS for the stable support a very big well done on putting together such a memorable and exciting day for all horse racing fans.
