Feather Boa grabs the BSA Sales Cup for Fillies!

FEATHER BOA opened up the Pick 6 on Saturday at Turffontein by winning the Bloodstock SA Sales Cup for fillies, a non-black type event with a generous prize pool of R400 000.

The stable and connections were very confident coming into the race, especially jockey Randall Simons, who aboard the filly in her penultimate run. He had mentioned in the post-race interview that he was not nervous and “knew she would win”.

The beautifully bred Flower Alley filly is just improving with each and every run, with some very strong form to back it up to date. Her last run over 1200m was always a slight question mark as the distance would be a bit sharp and was seen as more of a warm-up run for this race, her main mission. The filly still ran an exceptional race by running a game 2nd, many things not in her favour and adding to the confidence coming into this race.

It was left up to Randall to place her well from a decent draw and let the filly do the rest. She was placed perfectly against the fence, just off the pace. When coming into the straight, as soon as Randall asked the question, the filly showed off her eye-catching turn of foot and hit the front in a matter of strides. Randall kept her together well and steered her home to win by 1,30 lengths in an eased down victory.

FEATHER BOA is certainly well above average and is hopefully destined for bigger things in the future and will be exciting to see how her 3-year-old season continues to soar. The connections are happy to take it one day at a time and enjoy all the thrills along the way. Congratulations to all the connections, always at the course to shout their filly home – Messers W Jackson, M Campbell, A Marx and C Valjalo.

Another congratulations to Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein on breeding another stunning filly and using the Bloodstock SA sales platform as they have done for many years to breed and sell so many champions.
