Cheringoma moves through the ranks!

CHERINGOMA won in fine style when taking on her first handicap rivals at the Vaal on Thursday. This was the 3-year-old filly's first run after a 5 week break after a very easy maiden win back in November.

The break would have done this very progressive sort some good, even though it was not by design. Ruined with bad luck in the past when it came to draws after multiple nominations. This race, where she received an 8 draw was her best to date. She was still going to need a bit of luck in the running, and fortunately things had worked out for her and Philasande Mxoli.

The young apprentice was able to find a bit of luck which saw the filly placed nicely on the fence. There was an honest gallop and with a decent false rail, it was just to wait for the right timing to have the field come back to her and kick into gear. Within a matter of strides she was right up there and hit the front with ease. There were no real dangers and she continued to run on strongly all the way to the line to win by just over a length.

It may not have been one of the strongest fields but this lightly raced and very progressive Flower Ally filly will have a lot to come in her future races. She is still inexperienced and when the penny drops, she will and exciting prospect to watch.

It was another celebrated Royal winner, a very big congratulations to Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene du Monaco Grimaldi. Mr Mike Wittstock was fortunate enough to be on course and lead in his daughters filly and be part of the celebrations. The support given to the stable is always appreciated.
