Alula's Star lights them up...

Alula's Star could not have won her second race in finer style. From just four runs, she is now a two time winner and has been placed second on both of her other occasions. The 3-year-old Red Ray daughter has always shown speed since her first start. This win was her first start over 1200m and around the bend, so it was a learning curve for all, which she passed with flying colours!

She won by 4,75 lengths and still looked to be extending at the finish. She still showed her natural pace straight out of the gates, but was able to settle in just behind the leader, according to plan. Coming into the straight she came to the inside rail and in a matter of strides she was along side the leader, her turn of foot seemed instant as she hit the front and it was just a matter of how far she would win the race. It was very promising to see her not hanging out like she had done in her previous races and shows that the experience is helping with each and every run. It may be tough to tell her immediate future, but she seems well above average and if she can be handicapped correctly, she should be able to continue her exciting career.

Well done once again to Mr Ian van Schalkwyk, who just a few days prior at a winner with Admiral Dooley. Long may the winners continue!
