A double keeps the stable rolling!
After a treble at Turffontein on July day, a great double was earned on Sunday by two horses with a nice future ahead of them.
Race 2 seemed like it always belonged to VARS VICKY. After a cracking first run, where it was only inexperience that beat him, the stable were very confident of a comfortable win. His short price suggested that everyone agreed that the young Var gelding would end up in the winners box.
All that was needed was a patient ride by Diego and when the question was asked, he loomed up and never looked to be in doubt. The stable has always thought he has been a smart sort and a win like this gained a lot of confidence among connections and suggesting that he is going to continue to progress and improve. He may has a nice three-year-old career ahead! Well done to the owner, Mr Vicky Veeramootoo, the gelding has obviously been named after him, and as an owner that puts a lot into racing, it's great to see he has such a nice young horse on his hands that can give him some further enjoyment in the months to come.
A bit later in the day, the lightly raced EXPRESSFROMTHEUS notched up his third win from just seven starts and made it a back to back win. The manner in which he is finishing off his races is exciting to see and Mr Clive Barnard not only owns the What A Winter gelding, but also bred him at his Rooispruit Stud, a very big well done to him. His last two impressive wins have come at a price though, he has received the maximum penalty of 8 merit rating points for each win, putting him at a rating of 101. This might not help his seemingly natural improvements as he would now need to be thrown in the deep end early in his career. He is above average and hoping that he continues to improve.
Well done to the stable and all it's employees who ward so hard behind the scenes. The stable are in hopes that the new season will be a successful one with some nice and coming horses.
