Bronze Sword enjoyed his travels!

Scottsville racecourse welcomed one of the stable's raiders, Bronze Sword, travelling down from Gauteng to compete in the maiden plate race. Despite having only average form, Bronze Sword's chances looked good, as the field he was facing was not particularly strong.

With the benefit of the top jockey Richard Fourie and a number 1 draw, the 3-yeald already had an advantage over the field. All he needed to do was travel well and his advantages, along with his Gauteng form, would likely see him in the winner's box.

As the race unfolded, the good looking son of Silvano found himself near to the back of the field. The pace was a good one and jockey Richard Fourie was happy to bide his time. There was a clear advantage along the outside fence and Fourie did a great job to quickly get the gelding to the outside fence as soon as they entered the straight. He kept building up momentum and with about 150m to go he hit the front and crossing the line 0.90 lengths ahead of the second-placed horse.

With this win under his belt, his next few runs will be crucial in determining whether he continues to progress and adds more victories to his tally.

Congratulations are due to owner Vicky Veeramootoo, who has yet another winner to add to his list, and who supported the yard in traveling to Scottsville for the race.

The grooms and assistant trainer also deserve recognition for their hard work and dedication in preparing Bronze Sword for the race.

Thanks to the sponsor HOLLYWOODBETS for all their support!
