As the season comes to an end and a new one begins...
The stables job for the 2020/2021 season is complete. A season that the stable can be very proud of the way it has ended. The stats have painted a very proud picture, specifically relating to the strike rates of wins and places. The total number of runners was 222. This consisted of 34 winners, this is a 15% win percentage and one of the highest amongst the trainers log. More impressive is the place percentage of 54%, once again one of the highest strike rates in the trainers

IMPERIAL MASTER ends the Highveld season on a high!
The stable could not have asked for a better way to end of the season with a winner. It was the last race for the Highveld season that had IMPERIAL MASTER work hard to close in on the leader and follow through when it counted to win by just over half a length. It can easily be stated that it was a win well overdue for the 3-year-old gelding that is now a 2 time winner from his 12 starts. He has always been very consistent and has had some nice form lines to follow. It was a v

Comfortable win for Bold Fortune!
The lightly raced 3-year-old filly, BOLD FORTUNE notched up her 3rd win from just 10 starts. It was a small but competitive field, but from pole position draw, a patient ride and a good turn of foot, the Flower Alley filly never looked in doubt. She has always had ability, but for a few runs after her maiden win she had not showed what was expected of her. However, she has really matured and turned it around in her last few runs will ultra consistency and two recent wins. She

A great double for the day!
It was a good day for the stable, kicking off with a winner in the first race, and ending it off in the lucky last! The stable were very confident in the first race with PRAIRIE FALCON who was having his third run, and with the natural progression, was the one to beat. He found himself well placed in the race under the hands of Diego de Gouveia and when he was asked the question, there were little doubts that he would not be winning. She is a well bred daughter by Gimmethegre

FOLLOW ME - She is above average!
It seems like a very suited name for the 2-year-old filly that has now won 2 of her 4 races and still has a lot of improvement to come. FOLLOW ME won the first race at Turffontein on Saturday. The stable were very confident coming into the race, she was working well at home and had some very strong form lines. In the filly's penultimate run, she ran second behind Desert Miracle, who came out to win a Group 2 on July day, blowing the field away. VARSFONTEIN STUD bred the beaut

SEA WAYS pulls off a very gutsy Hat-Trick!
A few hundred metres into the race, it looked like it was going to be a very tough task for SEA WAYS to claim an elusive Hat-Trick, as he was well out of his ground and at the back of the field. However, the progressive 3-year-old showed that he was not giving up without a fight and showed a great turn of foot to work his way down the inside rail and get up on the line. It seems like it has become a great partnership between this gelding and Diego De Gouveia, who has ridden h

Debut win for Vertigo Again!
The relatively late maturing daughter, VERTIGO AGAIN was able to overcome her lack of experience and win going away at her first time at the course. The stable believed that she would certainly be running on at the finish, but would have been caught out by the inexperience. Young apprentice Philasande Mxoli was able to get the Vercingetorix filly focused at the right point in the straight and she showed a nice turn of foot to win by just under one length. It is also such a gr
